On the 15th and 16th of June 2007 the annual Open Days of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) were held at the Volkel Air Base. With the large scale and exclusive airshow from last year on Leeuwarden in the back of everyone's mind, had the Volkel crew a hard job to satisfy all the visitors of this years airshow. However succeeded the Volkel crew this year to bring a nice variety in solo display aircrafts and display teams, and much missed last year was also the always impressive "airpower" demo back in the programme.
On 14 June, the day before both the open door days, the Royal Netherlands AirForce and the Spotting group Volkel organised a spotter event for the first time to whiteness the arrival of all the participants, and the rehearsals of the solo display and display teams.
On both days a temperature of +/- 20 Degrees was reached with the characterized Dutch blue sky with puffy white clouds as the perfect background. On both days one or two rain showers travelled over the airfield, with on Saturday causing the display of the Patrouille de France to be cancelled just after one minute of the airshow. Highlights on this years airshow was the Polish SU-22M-4 and Hungarian JAS-39 Gripen on static. And in the flying display the Turkish Stars and Swedish Hawker Hunter duo team, followed by the four solo display's of the Dutch Hawker Hunter and RNLAF F-16 Solo display team. And the Spanish EF-18A and RAF Chinook HC2 as the absolute highlights of the show, with a very aggressive and impressive display.
