The first edition of the 2006 Tactical Leadership Programme started of with a mixture of cloudy and sunny days, with the temperature overall the whole period around freezing point. No real special participants where announced for this first edition of the TLP at Florennes. But with a clear and freezing blue sky behind each aircraft, the photographing opportunities where excellent. Overall a good kick-off.
This year the TLP 2006-01 started at 16th January, with the first arrivals at the 13th of January. The first session was planned from the 16th January till the 09th of February, for the second session the external assets arrived at Florennes around the 27th of January. Most remarkable and striking aircraft was the EF-18A C.15-23/15-10 of the Spanish airforce. In the tail is a red stripe with gold star visible, indicating the rank of the Comandant of the squadron.
Other participants where three FAF Mirage 2000C's from the EC02.012 based at Cambrai - Epinoy. Germany was present with three Tornado IDS's from the JBG31 based at Nörvenich, and four F-4F Phantoms from the JG71 & JG74 based at Wittmundhafen and Neuburg. Furthermore was Italy with two F-16A-ADF Fighting Falcons present from the 18 Gruppo based at Trapani - Birgi, and the Royal AirForce with four Tornado GR4's from the 2/9 & 13 Sq. Spain had four EF-18A+ Hornets from the Ala 15 based at Zaragoza deployed to Florennes, and last but not least was the United States AirForce present with four F-16CG's Fighting Falcons from the 31 FW/510 FS based at Aviano, Italy. With a Azure blue background could every detail of the participating fighters be photographed, including the red/orange colour of the afterburner. All reviewed a nice TLP with as personal favourite the German F-4F Phantoms.
